Auto cover maintenance 101: pump water off
This is the time of year when it is very crucial to make sure the water is pumped off of your auto cover. With the snow melting, and rains that will soon ensue, its easy to forget to keep the water pumped off of your pools auto cover. Here are a few tips to make sure you are ready for the spring time rains, and making sure your pool cover is in tip top shape;
- Check your pump to make sure it is functioning properly.
- Move away leaves or any other debris from around where the pump is placed. Clogging the impeller of the pump is a potential threat and could impede pumping.
- Make sure the receptacle that the pump is connected to is functioning. Over the winter as the cords get wet, the GFCI or the breaker could have tripped therefore the pump wont work.
- As the ice thaws under the cover there may be areas where the water puddles on top of the cover. Make sure to move the pump around as necessary to keep standing water at a minimum.
