Simple Tips to Keep Your Pool Clean

pool_clean

All pool owners know the basics of keeping their pool clean – chemical treatment, vacuuming, skimming, etc., but there are several other factors necessary for a clean and healthy pool.

Here are 4 items sometimes overlooked because they are not in plain sight:

UV/O3 Bulb Replacement
Since these are integrated into your filtration system, you may not know the condition of the bulbs. If the bulbs are weakened or no longer functioning, these systems cannot do their job to protect your pool. You should replace bulbs in both UV and O3 systems every 2 years. Due to the nature of these systems, we recommend contacting a professional.

Sand Filtration Systems
When is the last time you had your sand changed? Don’t remember? Then maybe it is time. The sand in a sand filtration system is the first line of defense for cleaning debris from your pool water. This debris builds up in your sand and the only way to get it out is to change the sand. It is recommended you change your sans every 2 years.

Nature 2 Mineral Cartridges
Inside the Nature 2 “container” is the cartridge that contains the minerals that clean algae and bacteria from your pool. Once these minerals are depleted, the Nature 2 can no longer do its job. It is recommended to change this cartridge every year.

Salt Cell Cleaning
If you have a salt system, it too needs to be cleaned at least annually. Scale build-up can decrease the effectiveness of this unit. Most experts recommend cleaning it twice a year if you have hard water. Check your salt cell every couple of months to look for scale buildup. Keeping it clean will increase the life of your salt cell.

If you need help with obtaining replacement products or have questions about how to replace the items above, see a professional at one of our Customer Care Centers.
