Three-Step Program

Posted on Mar 4, 2011

Visit one of our Customer Care Centers to have this three-step program customized for you!

First it is important to make note of the amount of water in your pool. There are __________ gallons of water in your pool.

1. Chlorinating your pool: BioGuard Silk Sticks were included in your chemical pack from Pools of Fun. We suggest keeping 3 sticks in your chlorinator at all times. As the sticks dissolve and become finger size, add more to maintain a reading of a 1 ppm (parts per million). If your chlorine reading is above 1 ppm or lower than .5 ppm, adjust the dial on the chlorinator accordingly.

2. Oxidize or Shock 35 your pool at least every other week with BioGuard Burn Out 35. This will remove swimmer waste from the pool. It will take __________ pounds of Burn Out 35/Shock 35 for your pool. After shocking, you must leave your solar blanket or auto cover off for at least four hours. Swimming can resume after 12 hours following your shock treatment. Burn Out 35/Shock 35 is packaged in one-pound bags. One bag treats water up to 6,000 gallons.

The following reasons are a good rule of thumb for shocking more than once every other week.
a. Hot days and daily use
b. After a pool party
c. Chlorine reading has dropped below 1 ppm
d. After a heavy rain
e. Hazy water

3. The third step in maintaining sparkling blue water is adding BioGuard Back-up.
You will need to add __________ ounces every other week, the day after shocking. **After an inch or more of rain, add an extra two or three ounce of Back-up to your pool. BioGuard recommends two ounces per 5,000 gallons of water.
